V.i. Labs Joins Microsoft Technology Adoption Program
V.i. Labs Also Announces Support of Microsoft Secure Licensing and Protection Strategy
Waltham, MA — August 1, 2007 V.i. Laboratories, Inc. (“V.i. Labs”), a provider
of software protection solutions for securing high-value and mission critical applications,
announced today it is the newest member of the Microsoft Technology Adoption Program
(TAP). V.i. Labs joined to take advantage of the many benefits offered by the program,
including the opportunity to influence products through feedback, obtain real world
customer insight on Microsoft pre-release products and specialized product team
engineering.
Through this alliance, V.i Labs is also announcing its support of a new Microsoft
initiative, Software Licensing and Protection (SLP) Services. The SLP Services are
designed to protect intellectual property (IP), easily and flexibly by allowing
for the creation and licensing of product versions, tracking products and feature
usage, and integration into back-end business processes.
V.i. Labs’ flagship solution, CodeArmor™, provides active run-time protection and
reverse engineering countermeasures for IP protection of high-value software. When
combined with the Microsoft SLP Services solutions, the two measures provide Independent
Software Vendors (ISVs) with the most comprehensive defense available in the industry
to combat the threats of overt software piracy and reverse engineering.
“We are pleased to see such a strong industry partner supporting SLP Services,”
said Thomas Lindeman, group product manager for SLP Services at Microsoft Corp.
“This integration will further validate both the need and benefit of the SLP Services
licensing system within independent software vendor applications.”
V.i. Labs offers the widest range of software license system support in the software
protection market, including Microsoft SLP Services, Macrovision’s FlexNet, Reprise
Software’s RLM, Uniloc SoftANCHOR, DRM Networks SecurApp Service, and Nalperion
PRO-tector. Software protection integrated with licensing systems provides the best
defense against software piracy.
“The emergence of piracy in countries such as China and Russia, with an abundance
of new internet users, organized crime, and increasing bandwidth and P2P technologies
has resulted in the highest global piracy rates ever seen for software applications,”
said Victor DeMarines, vice president of products at V.i. Labs. “License management
is a key component to managing access to valuable software within legitimate customer
bases. However, as our customers have demonstrated, license management must be deployed
along with comprehensive active software protection to deter the overt reverse engineering
threats that enable broad distribution of pirated software.”
About Microsoft TAP
The Microsoft Technology Adoption Program is a framework that has been created to
rationalize, simplify and centralize the former Joint Development Program (JDP),
Early Adopter Program (EAP), Rapid Deployment Program (RDP) and related programs
under a single umbrella. The goal is to improve customer-partner experiences in
evaluating and adopting Microsoft technologies and improve Microsoft’s ability to
track and manage customer-partner relationships across programs. TAP is not an additional
program. There are currently four different types of TAPs (Product Validation, Product
Evaluation, Rapid Deployment and Solutions Implementation) in the framework.
