V.i. Labs to Host Live Webinar on Software Piracy within the EDA Industry
Session with the Electronic Design Automation Consortium will highlight Trends,
Strategies and Best Practices
WALTHAM, Mass — March 4, 2009 - V.i. Laboratories, (“V.i. Labs”), a leading
provider of software protection and piracy business intelligence solutions, today
announced it will be co-hosting a webinar with the Electronic Design Automation Consortium (EDAC) on software
piracy concerns. Many EDA vendors realize businesses around the globe are using
their software illegally, but few have quantified the scope of their problem or
established strategies for recovering the lost revenue. This webinar will look at
ways to combat software piracy and recoup those losses.
On Tuesday, March 10 at 2 p.m. ET, EDA Consortium Anti-Piracy Committee Chairman
Scott Baeder will be teaming up with V.i. Labs’ VP of Products Victor DeMarines
to review the industry’s approach to piracy over the years and discuss the different
strategies that members are now using to squarely address the problem.
“Piracy is a growing problem within the EDA industry. It is not just software license
revenue at risk, we know that pirated EDA software is becoming a competitive advantage
for business overseas,” said Scott Baeder, chairman of anti-piracy committee at
EDA. “One of the EDA Consortium’s missions is to drive increased security and license
management capabilities for the benefit of the industry. We look forward to providing
participants with valuable insight and best practices that will help them address
EDA piracy issues.”
Webinar attendees will learn:
- How the piracy scene works and which anti-piracy strategies are the most appropriate
and effective
- Recent activities and research by the EDAC Anti-Piracy Committee
- How automatic software auditing can help piracy victims quantify the scope of their
piracy problem and generate leads to recover revenue
A Question and Answer period will follow the presentation.
