Overview
CodeArmor Intelligence is a turnkey system that allows software providers to easily
implement tamper detection and reporting capability for their valuable or mission
critical applications. Whether the threat is piracy or tampering, CodeArmor Intelligence
provides a flexible approach for organizations to integrate threat detection and
reporting into existing applications and centrally collect and report on this information
for action.
Key Applications
Piracy Business Intelligence for Software Vendors – CodeArmor Intelligence
provides the technology for V.i. Labs’ Piracy Business
Intelligence solution. It enables software vendors to gather intelligence
on the adoption of pirated versions of their software, identify organizations using
infringed versions of their software, and generate actionable business leads to
directly recover lost license revenue.
Tamper Detection and Notification – Enterprise organizations and software
providers can easily instrument their sensitive applications to detect tampering
and centrally notify individuals within the organization charged with threat monitoring
and response.
CodeArmor Intelligence Key Capabilities
- Turnkey System - Provides threat detection, data collection and reporting
capabilities within a complete system that minimizes implementation complexity and
cost.
- Piracy Threat Detection – Can trigger reporting based on the methods used
by piracy groups to disable licensing (e.g. binary patch, key generator, or application
vulnerability).
- Configurable Data Collection - Once triggered, the reporting function can
collect environment and application information as well as the specifics details
of the threat encountered to identify the individual organization using the unlicensed
software.
- Dynamic Notification - Once illegal activity is detected, allows ISVs to
alert users that the software is unlicensed, alter its functionality, or generate
a custom response to prevent further illegal use. This added control gives ISVs
the leverage they need to escalate responses and better their chances of recovering
lost revenue.
- Flexible Reporting - Infringement and usage data can be reported to Force.com
to be further filtered, extended and managed. Alternatively, ISVs can use gateway
log processing to transform data into formats supporting internal case management
or CRM systems.
- Gateway Filtering – Filtering rules can be used to exclude or redact specific
data types. For example, excluding specific data based on the geography in which
it was collected.
- Maximizes Data Collection - CodeArmor Intelligence offers methodologies to
egress data that are non-invasive and difficult to detect. It can also be configured
to report to an encrypted log file.
- Low Infrastructure Costs - CodeArmor leverages the Force.com cloud platform
to provide piracy dashboards and infringement data reporting with no impact to IT
and minimal cost.
System Components
CodeArmor Intelligence delivers an end-to-end system that allows software providers
to detect and report on software application threats and allow the multiple roles
within an organization to easily access the data from the Web.

- Software Development Kit (SDK) - Provides a flexible detection and reporting
library and programming interface and utilities to enable software providers to
embed threat detection, data collection, and reporting functions within application
software.
- Web Gateway - A Java Servlet application that is deployed in the software
provider’s network and receives data from the CodeArmor Intelligence instrumented
applications, filters it, augments the data using DaaS partners, and logs and sends
the data to the reporting interface.
- CodeArmor Intelligence Plug-in for Force.com - A plug-in that enables software
providers to organize collected infringement data into a format that can easily
be filtered, reported, and managed. The plug-in provides initial workflow and notification
rules as well as a piracy lead dashboard. Because the data is available through
the Force.com web interface, legal, product management, sales, and other compliance
representatives within the software provider's organization can easily access and
export the data.
