Dr. Xiang Wang is the lead partner for Orrick’s China-focused intellectual property practice; he spends his time between three offices: Shanghai, Silicon Valley and Beijing, where he is the managing partner. Dr. Wang assists local and foreign-based multinational companies with all aspects of their intellectual property rights in China, Hong Kong and the United States. Dr. Wang has extensive experience representing both foreign and Chinese companies protecting their R&D and IP in global markets, including IP-related, as well as product liability, litigation in the United States and China.

Dr. Wang is well recognized for his commitment to help guide the development and advancement of IP laws, regulations and cross-border relationships that affect companies doing business in China. Dr. Wang served as vice chair of the Intellectual Property Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and as counsel for the R&D-based Pharmaceutical Association in China. Dr. Wang also serves as an adjunct professor of electrical and biomedical engineering at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Wang is the author or co-author of more than 60 books and journal articles, including recent articles on China’s new regulatory requirements for medical devices and pharmaceuticals and how to protect intellectual property while doing business in China and the United States.

Dr. Wang frequently speaks at international seminars and conferences about how to protect intellectual property, including disputes in patent, trademark and trade secret, securities litigation as well as product liability litigation in the United States and China.

Dr. Wang has been interviewed by numerous newspapers and news media on cross-border IP and litigation issues, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, Bloomberg, International Herald Tribune, Financial Times, CCTV “Dialogue”, Law360, Asian Legal Business, China Business Law Journal, Chinese Lawyer, Chicago Herald, Managing Intellectual Property, CFO Innovations and Swedish Broadcasting Corporation.

Victor DeMarines brings extensive security product management and marketing experience to V.i. Labs, where he is responsible for product strategy and direction. He is a frequent speaker and author on topics including piracy, reverse engineering and the protection of intellectual property. Victor was previously a senior product manager at RSA Security where he drove product strategy for the company’s strong authentication, Smart Card, and enterprise Single Sign-On client products. Prior to RSA, Victor was the director of product management at Authentica (now EMC) where he was instrumental in defining product strategy and direction for Authentica’s enterprise rights management and secure email solutions. Before Authentica, Victor held senior product management positions at AXENT Technologies (now Symantec) and Progress Software, a global supplier of software technology and services.
